Water Features, Fire & Lighting in Tucson

The sun goes down over the Tucson Mountains and the backyard turns into something else entirely. Features are what make that moment. They also have to be plumbed and wired before the shotcrete, so we design them in from the first 3D render.

Water

  • Sheer descents and rain curtains. A clean sheet of water off a raised wall. Great sound, modern look.
  • Bubblers and deck jets. Bubblers on the Baja shelf are the single most requested feature by families with young kids.
  • Scuppers and spillways. Copper or stainless spouts off a raised spa or planter wall.
  • Rock waterfalls and grottos. A natural look that fits the desert. Built from real boulders or engineered rock.

Fire

Fire bowls on the bond beam, a fire pit off the deck, or a linear fire feature in a raised wall. We run the gas line during rough-in so nothing gets cut later. Every fire feature gets a key valve and, where you want it, electronic ignition on the automation.

Lighting

Color LED pool lights are standard on every pool we build. Beyond that, we light the deck, the steps, the water features, and the landscape on separate zones. Low-voltage, dimmable, and all of it from one app.

How it works

  1. Estimate. We walk the yard, check access, grade and setbacks, and talk through what you want. Free, and usually under an hour.
  2. 3D design. You see the pool, deck, spa and features together in 3D before anything is dug. Shape, finish, lighting, all of it.
  3. Fixed quote. A line-item quote. Excavation, shell, plumbing, equipment, finish, coping, deck and barrier each priced on their own line.
  4. Build. A licensed Arizona pool builder takes it from here, pulls the permit with the City or County, and builds to the approved design.
  5. Walkthrough. Once it passes final inspection you walk the finished pool with your builder, get the warranties, and learn how to run the equipment.

Which features are worth the money?

Bubblers and LED lighting have the highest satisfaction for the cost. A single sheer descent adds a lot of atmosphere. A large rock waterfall is a big-ticket item that is worth it if it is the centerpiece of the yard.

Do water features raise my water bill?

A little, through evaporation. In Tucson the bigger cost is the pool itself. Running features in the evening rather than midday keeps the loss down.

Can features be added to an existing pool?

Lighting and fire features, yes. Plumbed water features on an existing pool usually mean cutting the deck to run new lines, which we price case by case.
